چکیده

(1) Snow melt period of December to April in combination with precipitation (typical of lowland and hilly parts of the Labe, Vltava and Morava catchments). (2) Longer duration of rainfall lasting 10 to 72 hours (rainfall intensified and prolonged by elevation enhancement). (3) Intensive short duration of summer rainfall exceeding (flood peak occurring within hours of rainfall peak, small areas affected, flash flood are characteristic of small short streams after April – September thunderstorm.)

1997 Floods and Rains in the Mirror of Extreme Value Theory

The Moravian floods in July 1997 have killed 49 people, affected 536 settlements, 29 000 houses and cost over 2.5 billion USD. A question arises whether the hydrological event (or the preceding meteorological one) can be predicted. In order to foresee the magnitude of catastrophic events we extrapolate historical data which has an impact on the construction in the vicinity of the rivers, insura...

Statistical modeling of the association between pervasive precipitation anomalies in Southern Alburz and global ocean-atmospheric patterns

Precipitation patterns are influenced by many factors, such as global atmospheric circulations to name but one. Precipitation patterns in Iran have always had great fluctuations even in a smaller scale like the Alburz Mountain Range. The present research has tried to find the relationship between global atmospheric patterns and the pervasive precipitation ones in Alburz. For doing so, 17 climat...

پهنه‌بندی بارندگی زمستانه استان‌های بوشهر، فارس و کهگیلویه و بویر احمد با استفاده ازروش تحلیل مؤلفه‌های اصلی

The study of geographical extent of precipitation pattern is important because of its impact on agriculture, water resources, tourism, industry, dams, and irrigation. The principal component analysis (PCA), as an elegant mathematical tool, was applied for the regionalization of winter precipitation in central south Iran (Fars, Boushehr, and Kohgiloye and Boyerahmad Provinces). Averaging monthly...
